Flights!

The terror is subsiding and reality is setting in. I'm still a bit on edge and although I'm dreading saying goodbye to my parents, I'd really like the traveling to be underway so that I can stop worrying about whether it'll go smoothly.

My first flight is leaving tomorrow afternoon, and it's a United Airlines flight. My second and third flights are through Lufthansa. Lufthansa, of course, will not allow me to print my boarding passes because the first flight isn't a Lufthansa flight, and United won't let it. United, of course, will not allow me to print my boarding passes online because it's decided my name (Ms. Eleanor L. P____) is actually Eleanorlms P____. Hopefully it will cease to be a problem when I go to the airport tomorrow and scan my passport into the kiosk, as their website says I must do, but all in all it's nerve-wracking.

I'm not quite entirely packed, but I'm close, and I do have a couple of items my parents will be shipping me (such as my boots and coat for winter). As it stands, my suitcase is definitely overweight, so I'm going to try to move heavy non-liquids to my carry-on and personal item.

And for the twentieth time, no, I do not need my visa in order to enter the country.

EDIT: I got my boarding passes fine. The airport has wifi but I'm about to sign off-- boarding is soon. They scanned my hands for explosive ions! It was cool! I love science.

  1. Did your hands glow when they scanned for ions? I think they charge extra for that.

  2. Nah, they just wiped the palms of my hands off with a piece of paper and put it into the machine. And I must say, Cedar Rapids totally spoils you because I don't know that there's any other airport in the world with free wifi.

  3. I'm glad they let you keep your hands.
